Lawdy on an old 97?? If I can remember seems like a 1 or 1 1/8" if you still have the original cv with the circlip on the shaft and not a replacement later model cv. I might be right,I might be wrong

It's a '96 Sportsman 500 and everything is original.

Start at an inch socket and go from there. Think it was somewhere in this neighborhood. 17 years is a long time to try to remember all sizes of nuts...
