Default Code 25

Hi Guys/Gals New here and some great reading. First thing is I have a code 25 on my 07 700 efi Sportsman can't find anything on that. Another thing is One fella wrote about a terrible noise coming from the drive train like a bucket of bolts, mine goes away when I apply the throttle. Any ideas on either??? Terry

Code 25 shows to be invalid gear position on the transmission for an 800,but doesn't list it on the 700 manual I have.Code be just another bogus code that pops up along with "loss of synchronization" that appears from time to time. Unplug the battery for about a minute and see if the code clears when you hook it back up.

Drive train noise could be anything. Could be a worn bearing in the transmission or could be a rear clutch problem radiating noise. First thing I'd do is change the transmission fluid and the rear diff fluid if its been awhile and see if it helps.

Just went for a ride today and the belt is really slipping whole bike has only 780 miles so the clutch I think is a good bet. Thanks Terry

If you replace the belt blow the belt dust from the clutches but make sure you're in an open area. Makes a dust storm.

I use brake clean leaves no residue. This has the rapid reaction secondary, so it is a roller I think. Everything else seems tight in the primary but the belt is down to within 2000 for replacement. I cannot figure out how so much crud could get into this sealed unit. Which clutch kit would you rec. for the 700. Everything stock so far. Terry
