Just use some light emory cloth or steel wool to clean up the engine case where the cam rides and make sure you lube the cam journals thoroughly when you install it. I've cleaned up scored cases like this. It's just machined aluminum and will wear a little versus the hardened journals of the cam shaft. Just use a good grade of synthetic oil and keep up with regular oil and filter changes.

i finally got a crank shaft and put my engine back together. When i start it, it starts right up, but the engine will rev up then rev down then back up again, unless i pull the choke out, then it almost sounds right. I was thinking it was something to do with the carburetor. I put a rebuilt kit into it so all the jets and needles are new.
