Speedo Odo not working
#1
I have a 2002 425 xpedition, the speedo lights up and the odo display is on, but needle doesn't move, and odo doesn't tally distance it does switch from mileage to trip though. Also my AWD works fine, other than the awd bulb doesn't light up anymore.L never got a manual from prev. owner. Any help as to what it might be? thanks in advance.

Most of the time when this happens it's either dirt/mud blocking the sensor cap or the hall effect sensor has shorted out.Item #22.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Plus here's a 5 buck pdf service manual.http://polaris-atv.brssm.com/2002-Po...ce-Manual.html

Only sure method on testing the hall effect sensor is through a harness tester like we had at the shop, but I wouldn't order this just for a one time use(even if they would sell it to you) Dealer site. https://polaris.service-solutions.co...0&cat=1&sub=16 I've had to replace numerous hall effect sensors when speed and mileage wouldn't register. If cleaning the hall sensor cap on the brake caliper doesn't help, then I'd just order a new sensor that I showed a link to. You can also check Bike Bandit,Cheap Cycle Parts,Partszilla as to best price.

Those things have a short life span due to its bad location in muddy rides. I changed mine once and it quit again.
Now I just live without it since the speedo has no useful info to me anyways. The trip meter was the only thing I used as a gas gauge.
The hour meter is the only thing on the speedo not effected by the Hall sensor.
