Bogging issue
#1
Sorry for this repost but I figured my problem would best be answered in this thread.
I have a 2004 polaris 600 on 28 inch silver backs and when I go deep(seat level) the atv Boggs out and dies.i winch out and crank it up and it runs fine.i found some small cracks in both car boots(air box and intake side)and was wondering if this could be the problem as well as something I'm missing.there is no water in the air box or water in the oil.

Only way to tell is to remove them and see if the cracks are just surface or all the way through. If they were cracked, usually the machine wouldn't run right even out of water.Again if your riding in water up to the seat level expect water to be splashed onto the electronics, plug wires and caps which can ground out the ignition.Use electrical grease on all connection under the front panel along with plug caps, plus check for any cut places on either plug wire that may be shorting when water hits it.Even newer water resistant connectors doesn't mean they're completely water proof! Plus even the muffler could be causing problems if it's completely under water.

I'm sorry for posting in 2 different sections.i have a 2004 polaris 600. And I'm just trying to narrow this down.ive rode in deeper water but all of sudden this has happened and it's like clock work now as to when it's going to happen

It's called a process of elimination.. You have to start at the electronics, seal them up,check for any wires that may short out when waist deep in water! Then check that no leaks into the clutches, but as I mentioned in your other post if the clutches got wet it would slip.It wouldn't just start back up and go normally. Plus the clear carb vent could be sucking water, stalling the machine. But again you say there's no trace of water in the air box and it runs fine after you're hauled out of the water? I still say something in the electronics is the problem when you hit too deep water.

I should add that the first time this happened it did not clear up immediately.i broke the front of the carb loose and sprayed carb cleaner in it and reattached it and it ran great after that.the carb bowl was clean.at first I thought it had to be the carb because it was running like crap and would barely make it up hills.
