C/b oil capacity is around 75-100 ccs. There is another plug at the front of the engine that you can take off and see if any excess oil flows out. This was the original fill plug on the 350s,the 400 had the plastic fill plug/dip stick under the carb.Doesn't matter that much if it has a little too much oil as the c/b case has a vent tube that it can vent out. Look on the first page of comments about the leak down test I mentioned doing and the video.Plus here's another video on what's involved in this test to give you an idea. Soapy water while it's under pressure on gaskets, engines cases, etc can usually show any air leaks.

AND on an unrelated matter...my starter drive quit working... so i said HMMMMMM....ganked that all back apart there is a bushing in end of cover that the starter drive sets in...that cracked in 1/2 and bound on the drive...LIFE IS GOOD...now i need one of them...starter still works good though...tested that.

Well since you had spark before, now no spark with another cdi,I'd either place a stick of dynamite under it or retrace the wiring and especially the ground wire from the cdi that attaches to the coil mount, plus pull the black kill wire and see if you have spark. This cdi shows to be a replacement for part #3085087 which is what your model calls for,but is still Chinese like most of the after market modules. You take a chance on quality for price. About the only thing you haven't replaced is the stator, but still wondering if it's something other than an ignition related problem that's causing it to run just 15 seconds or so at a time even with the new piston, seals, etc.

About the only thing left I can think of is to hook up the old cdi that did have spark and if you've eliminated the carb, plus has good fuel flow from the tank, leak down test shows ok,then the only thing left you haven't replaced is the stator which may or may not help.. Wish I could see some pics on the wiring and stator and the wire the previous owner had spiced in..He had to have done it for some reason..
