Default 2005 Sportsman 400

I have a Polaris 2005 Sportsman 400 that when I put it in forward it dies but when I put it in reverse it runs fine. When It is in Neutral it runs fine. I am thinking it is carburation but not for sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All the electronics are in the ecm module. If you still have the Black Chinese module it can be replaced under the recall.http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2008/...o-Fire-Hazard/ Some are still floating around that haven't had the modules replaced. If it's already been replaced, then the ecm is probably the cause and Polaris won't replace one twice.2004-2006 POLARIS Sportsman 450 500 Scrambler OEM Surepower ECM PDM 2203348 | eBay Wouldn't think that it would be clutch related since it works fine in reverse, but I've been wrong before.

Could a bad reverse limiter do that? I don't know much about electronic stuff.

Sounds like it just makes the ECM even more complicated.

That's why I and most people hated them. Too much junk crammed into one box insted aof individual components that could be replaced. Polaris finally got smart and on later models got rid of them. Then they got rid of the Fugi engines entirtely. Big mistake imo as they were good engines, especially the 500 which had a good fan base.

Most of my quads have had the Fuji 500 engine in them and I never had a single engine problem in over 20 years. It was a great engine.
