Default 1994 Polaris Sportsman 400

Hello I'm having an issue with my dash lights, front lights and fan not working. I replaced the battery and cleaned all the contacts on the solenoid. I checked both fuses and they seem to be working. The rear light works, the starter also works and starts the quad, however, even with the quad started, still no dash or front lights along with the fan not working. Please let me know if there's any checkpoints I can start with.

Have to carefully pry out the black bezel to get to these funky bulbs. Item#27(4030042) in the break down pic. Bulbs aren't cheap but you might be able to find then at an auto supply also.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Spor...NZQtJb&vxp=mtr You can jump the radiator sensor to see if the fan is ok. Caltric has replacement sensors.

You can find better replacement low beam bulbs if they're burnt out. If the machine was ever run with a dead battery, the indicator lights and h/light bulbs can blow. 2 New Polaris 4011066 4030048 Super White 50W Xenon Headlight Light Lamp Bulbs | eBay

I checked the front lights and all of them are dead. The bulbs need to be replaced. The dash lights have power going to them and still not lighting so I'm going to assume those bulbs are also not working. If I pulled the leads off the radiator sensor and touch them together, will this turn the fan on?

On the sensor all you have to do is pull the spade connectors back a bit on the sensor and jump the sensor terminals with needle nose pliers. Key has to be on. If the fan kicks on then usually a sensor problem. If it doesn't you have a fan motor burnt out if the fan is grounded properly.

Taking the front apart to access the fan motor was a bear, lol. It looks like an issue with sensor. I did test the fan with the battery and it turned on but very slowly and sluggish. I'll probably replace both parts. Question for you. My radiator sensor doesn't have terminals but it hard wired. The one you posted in your previous link at Caltric has two leads coming off it. Do I have to solder wires to those leads?

This was the sensor that Amazon showed and didn't have the spade connectors. Yes the older ones were hard wired and are NLA from all sources. You can also remove the sensor and take it to any auto supply and match up the dimensions. They should have a correct size sensor with spade connections that you can make connectors so you can use your existing sensor harness.
