Default CV shafts

Hi opt. I have a 07 sportsman 500 efi. All the CV shafts have play in them where they go Into the differentials. I replaced one a month ago and that has play also. Is that normal?

Don't think I've ever seen a Sportsman that didn't have a little play in the rear plunging joints after a few years. Part of that could be because of a little main drive gear internal teeth wear or the support bearing wear on either side.If it's like most,not worth tearing the whole gear case apart to change either the bearings or the drive gear. If the plunging joint really gets sloppy up and down,etc,then it might be worth it. Item#1 and 2 on the parts break down.

The front ones have play also. Alot more then the rear ones. Is that anything to be concerned about? I have 2 new axles here but don't want to replace if it won't change anything.

Same thing on the front but can get more expensive. Male and female output hubs and internal bearings can get worn over time.Might as well change the armature plate and if you still happen to have that plastic roll cage,might as well replace it with an aluminum one if you tear into the front housing.Items #2 and 5.

Sounds expensive lol. The yoke that goes on the transmission was stripped so I think for now I will change that and the u-joints. And see how it holds up... thanks again.

Drive shaft yokes are supposed to be a little softer metal than the splines in the output hubs,or at least they say.. I'd take a good look with a flash light to inspect them.
