Hey everyone, I am new here and just bought a Scrammy 500 that the owner claimed only had a pull start. I have looked up everything and cannot find any electric start parts or anything to wire my own, making me trust that. At this point, I have purchased a new recoil spring assembly because the pull start did not have tension after the first ride. After putting the new assembly on today, it fired right up in one pull, but when I began riding it started to make a grinding noise clearly coming from the new assembly, and no more than two seconds later the pull rope was severed leaving me with a choice to kill and tow it or ride straight home. I am sick of pull starting and can get it out back together, but what would’ve been grinding in there and severed the rope?

I am looking to get some info on wiring my own electric start since there is not one on the bike at the time of purchase. Any help would be appreciated as I am new at working on these specific ATVs. Thanks!

That model does have an electric start on it. This video is an earlier year model, but will give you an idea where to find it on yours.
