I recently purchased my a 2006 800 efi sportsman. I rode it on the guys driveway but there wasnt a lot of room so I accelerated up let off, went in low high reverse etc. Thought I was getting a good deal at 5000 for a 800 with 862 miles with a snow plow and gun boot. I got it home and took it down a straight stretch and it topped out at 30mph at 4600 rpm. I checked out the air filter and it was clean, I put a bottle of fuel injection cleaner in it rode around a bit tomix it up andlet it idle for 30 minutes and ran it again still only 30. I ordered a new fuel filter and belt and started reading on the forums. I have seen a few other issues like mine but nobody posted a fix. Just wondering if anyone knows what the culprit is? One guy said fuel filter didnt fix it, another said belt didnt fix it. So I guess I should have started reading before I ordered parts. Anyone know what the issue is?
