Charge the battery and load test it along with checking connections. Doesn't need the battery for ignition as you can pull start it,but you need the battery for the lights,regulator,fan,etc.Any auto supply can load test it to see if the battery is the problem. If the battery checks out then sounds like you have a short in the switch wiring or the switch itself even if it's a new one.
