WARNING!!! Vulnerable Belt Drive Intake!!!
#1
One Word of WARNING!!!
Be careful when washing your RZR!! I did a real thoruogh job the other day and was spraying off the engine and under the bed and thought all was well. Yesterday I went out to ride it and it wouldn't even move! I found that the intake snorkel for the belt/clutch ***'y is open and pointing to the rear of the machine. I doubt that we will have any problems riding it in water, but if you spray under the bed and towards the front, you can spray water right into the sealed belt compartment!! If you reach up you can feel it.
I removed all the screws holding the clutch cover and released the water and used an air hose to blow any residue out. It was immediatly healed. One thing I noticed too was that the clutch cover would not come out. I was able to seperate it, but it looked like the square stock that the seats mount on would need to be removed to be able to pull the cover out???
Everyting is fine, I just learned a washing lesson the hard way.
Oh, it was NOT a powerwasher either.....just a standard water hose.
I may try to put something on it shield it from a direct spray.

Belt Air Intake Picture
Think this picture shows the belt air intake, right in the middle of the 'x' bars. That needs a downturn on it. That is just a funnel for water. Note for improvement for next year to Polaris. In the mean time, any ideals for a simple and quick fix? It looks like it takes a bit of work just to get to it.</end quote></div>

You can get to it from behind the seats....just remove the panel and then there are two push-pin expando inserts that hold the funnel in place.
My first course of action is to be careful not to spray that direction.
I was first thinking that using an OutterWear material might do the trick.
Ither than that, maybe a some type of a round barrier for just splash protection.....so as not to restrict air flow into the clutch. We don't want it getting too hot in there.
I will do some thinking and get back on it.
I just need to figure out how to add pictures on my posts.</end quote></div>

I think the easy fix for this is to take light sheet metal as wide as the air intake, or a little wider, long enough to come out past the intake and make a bend of the metal that will cover the intake, yet leave plenty of room for air movement. Pop rivet it to the plastic air scoop, or perhaps, use a long worm screw hose clamp and clamp it on.

I know this is an old thread, but just a RZR. What if you took the piece that oldstillgoing is talking about, and angled the top away and left some room at the bottom of the intake. This would keep water from splashing up from the bottom into the intake, but allow water that came from the top to run the down the plate and away from the intake? Haven't looked at mine, just seeing what I need to do before summer...on the list is fix the intake problem since PoPo couldn't fix it right.
