Default broken drive belts

we was 20 miles from any help when belt broke it had less than 15 hours on it ,cost me $250 to have it towed to the dealer ,they fixed it .1 month later it broke again they wanted tp charge me$178 to fix it i argued and they tore the bill up. 1 week later we took it out and it would get so hot our backs got red we would have to stop every 20 min. to cool it off which the fan didnt come on unless you turned the off and on. there also was a thumping noise coming from under neath. they looked at said there nothing wrong any ideas? also does anyone drive them on pavement? i was told that was what was causing the problems i drive 9 miles to work and its cool outside.

Check and see when your Ranger XP was built any Ranger XP built before 3/6/07 needs both the motor mounts replaced with new part # 3021936, and the belt replaced with part # 3211106. Polaris had a run of defective mounts and belts. They are aware of the problem, call Polaris corporate and complain. Get them to give you a case # and a person to contact. Make them agree to pay to the clutches cleaned and the belt, clutch, and drive pulley alignment checked and re calibrated for proper operation. Tell them of the overheating problem, ask them to authorize verification of engine mixture settings and replacement of the the cooling fan and temperature switch. Then call your dealer and have them do the repairs on Polaris' dime.

There has also been instances of the seat rubbing the sending wire in two for the fuel injectors. Installing Polaris seat brace, part # 5251133 solves this.

I found out all this on www.prcforum.com while researching a Ranger purchase. Lots of good info there.

Good Luck with your repairs, be polite but firm.

Any more blown belts? My Ranger is in the shop now for the 3rd time for a blown belt and the machine only has 40 hours on it! I was just curious if you followed the advice given by the guy who recommended the new motor mounts. This is very frustrating for sure. The last time mine was in for the belt replacement, it took almost 2 months while the dealer waited for a clutch alignment tool. I thought that would do it, but appearently not. Polaris corporate is pushing back on covering me for the 3rd time. They seem to be willing to lose a customer.

i am still having problems, belt 1 broke on dirt raod they fix for free ,2 belt on pavement they fixed free, 3 belt broke on dirt they charged me201 its wear and tear. i told them i was buying it for driving to work the salesman said it was a great idea. so then im told it was not designed for pavement so its overheating the belt , then im told the tires that i bought from polaris was the cause so i took them off , then they said we drove it to fast 40mph suppose to go 50. now my husband was out hunting the reaerend or something went out now im told that we are putting to many miles on 3000 in in 4 months its not designed for that so my question is to them what can i do with it i paid 15,000 for something that can just sit .my husband was baby it so he could hunt 25 mph for 30 min at a time and it still broke down. i have reported this to better buseness bureau and attorney general is next and my local newspaper and a local news channel ,i feel they are ripping me off i also have a lawyer that deals with lemon law im trying to get people to come foreward to get our money back.her consumer law center 1800 355 36 43 ex 200 joanne buskey my email is svwhtmtn@frontiernet.net
