Default General Towing Question

I am looking at buying a new 2008 Ranger 700 4X4. Published towing capacity states 2000lbs. Does anyone have any experience towing large trailers (14X6) through soft corn/bean fields - estimated total weight of trailer & decoys 2500-3000lbs. Any heavy duty towing application replies would be welcomed. Also, I have always been a "honda guy" (1988 300 4X4 atv) and have had my atv for fifteen years without a single problem. Have heard many, many reliabilty horror stories about the Ranger. Are the new units more reliable? The only other unit I have been looking at is the Rhino but towing capacity on this unit seems to be way too light. Thanks in advance for any replies!

Default General Towing Question

Polaris makes a great line of products...........as technology grows so do the small problems with new machines......all of them.........major problems come from poor maintaince.................people that have problems are going to have problems with any brand............
Towing shouldn't be a problem...........I used my Polaris 500 Magnum to pull my 4500 lb boat everywhere including soft soil conditions. The only issue in long term problems is clutch shives and belts............don't let the belt slip by getting moving and go....! A friend has Ranger 500cc and used it to pull stuck 4x4 truck with trailer about 3/8th miles on very muddy road with out trouble except the mud getting built up on inner wheel wells and slowing tire speed down.............gumbo mud................good luck

Handycap,
Thank you very much for the response - I bought the unit last weekend, 2008 700XP Browning Edition and I got the 5 year extended warranty. I agree with you completely on the care and maintenance issue - my 1988 Honda looks and performs like it is about a year old. I am familiarizing myself with the machine and paying close attention to the break-in procedures. I suspected the machine would be an able towing unit just because of the factory rating. Your first hand experience sounds great. Thank you again for taking the time to respond!
