04 Ranger will not idle

04 Ranger will not idle
I just bought an 04 ranger 2x4 TM. It has the 650 v-twin motor. It will not idle, it just dies. When I adjust the idle so it does not stall, I can't shift in and out of gear. Any help would be great.
