Default 06' Ranger wheel bearing

I have a 06' ranger 700 xp, the rear wheel bearing feels bad so I took the caliper off,the cotter pin, axle nut and tried to remove the outter part w/ the studs in it(sorry don't know the propper name) but I can only get the axle to move inward about 7/8" and the above part I mentioned will not come off I have used c clamps and steel to try to press the axle inward enough to get it off but it is stuck. There is only about 1/4" of axle sticking out.

What am I doing wrong and how do I get it off? I am think the bearing is seezed up on the axle or something.

Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Try to spray penetrating oil in hub carrier, use torch to heat around carrier, then if you have a plastic deadblow hammer or reg hammer tap backside of hub all around, if doesnt budge, hold cv and tap around face of hub to push back into axle, then put nut on driveshaft, tap in,remove nut and try backside of hub again! Have had same problem where hub tries to WELD itself on because of dirt and grit. Good luck

Thanks, done pretty much what you have said I have about 1/4" left to go I just didn't want to break anything by forgetting to remove something. I actually beat the axle w/ the nut on it hard enough to make it jump a htread so I now have 2 "c" clamps w/ a peice of steel between them going acroos the axle and applied pressure but it stopped about a 1/4" shy so I sprayed it down w/ Penetrant oil and left it for overnight.

Thanks for the info, I willl give it a shot in the am, Is there a puller that is made for these or just do what ya can when they are froze up like this?

No puller available, just intestinal fortitude! Easy on the axle though! Invest in a brass or deadblow hammer. If bearing bad or race comes out, bearing needs to be replaced! Bearing is LARGE Remove carrier, install in vise,HEAT thoroughly, knock out bearing from inside at exposed points,HEAT carrier again and new bearing will usually drop in. Remember BIG circlip in front of bearing and remove it first! Good luck
