You can get the computer reprogrammed, but I would highly recommend not to with a stock push rod engine. Beef up your valve train first, then a computer reprogram would be ok.
Even doing this you will only see maybe a 4-5 mph gain. These motors are pretty well doing what they can.

I have had my ECU reprogramed about 6 months ago and have had no problems what so ever. It only raises it up to a 7000 rpm limit but that combined with removing the clutch spacer will give you more top end. I had mine done at Dirty Dawg Performance. Give Dale a call at 651-340-1129.

Do you still have the factory clutch spacer in? If not, pull that out and your new top speed will be around 65mph, then you will start hitting the rev limiter. I can't get mine to hit the limiter on a flat road because of my full windshield, but downhill...it will bounce off of it all day doing 65mph.

Do you still have the factory clutch spacer in? If not, pull that out and your new top speed will be around 65mph, then you will start hitting the rev limiter.
