Another shoot out for the Pred! I've had mine since hmmm..feb i guess...what a bike! It handles awsome..jumps great and is blazing fast! I've raced my couisin with his stock banshee..beat him..raced my friend on his new 03 LE raptor..beat him as well..side by side till i clicked it in 5th and good bye rappy! I also have mine geared down with a 13t & 38T..but i have 22" realters on the back which cant help for speed!
Just ride one and you'll love it!

The tires..they're a bit heavy..but they work really good in the snow around here! Also in the sand/gravel pits they work prettty good too..Im taking them off for the summer though...i'd rather save them for the winter..although they work mint in the mud too! Another happy Pred owner here. I've have mine since Dec. - about 40 hours on it. No problems with it. The mods are just starting to come out, since it is a first year model. I've had many different quads, 2-strokes and 4-strokes. IMO this quad is my favorite. It comes stock with some nice goodies, and a great suspension that would add hundreds of dollars to any exisiting quad's selling price. Depending on how and where you ride I'd suggest the following simple mods:
- Add an aftermarket pipe. It wakes up the low and mid range. Amazing difference to me.
- Modify the gearing to suit your riding. Use the 13T and/or 38-39T for sand, or track. I like top speed too so I only changed the rear sprocket out.
- Change out the tires depending on where you ride. Razr's are good at the track, but for where I've riding (while not in the sand) I suggest a more aggressive tread. The truth is the power of my pred and agressive trails I ride on has caused my razrs to wear fairly quickly.
- Add the K&N filter - I used the drop in filter and removed the pre-filter
- Rejet as needed - I've seen many different set-ups, each depending on the mods, altitude etc. The predator is sensitive in this area
I've added all of the above for less than $500 and the quad is awesome. If there is one improvement I'd like to see is a better seat design. It angles down a bit, causing you to eventually slide towards the gas tank. I haven't heard too many people complain about this though, and I may just build up the seat foam myself and recover it. That's my 2 cents on the pred. I do recommend you weigh all of your options, including test drives on the z400 and raptor at a dealer if you can. When investing $6k on anything it is important to be as well-informed as possible.

I've been very happy with mine so far, and I've left it stock. In the woods this weekend I noticed it's geared a little high. I was riding in 1st most of the time, but this is partly due to waiting for my wife to catch up on her Honda 300ex.
If you get one, be sure to reroute the vent hoses for the carb up over the frame. This takes only a minute and will prevent the machine from stalling in water over the footpegs.

If the predator would have came out 2 years ago when the raptor did, I am pretty sure that I would have got one, they are fast as hell (just like the raptor) and overall awesome!! I just fell in love with the Raptor and have wanted one ever since, even though I am looking forward to see what performance mods will come out for the predator in the next couple of months!! Get whatever u want, it is ur money!!

Pechmial, I also went riding in the woods last weekend. I had trouble with gearing. I was fighting between 1st and 2nd . If only it had 1 1/2 gear. lol I went through some nasty water and stalled and I figured it was just me being a lousey rider. But you may have answered my stalling problem in water. Can you describe that rerouting of that hose a little better? Thanks
Scotts88, I havent seen you here for a while.
