Default 400 Sport Electrical Failure

I have a 94' sport 400 (thinks its a 94) and none of the electrical works... elect start, reverse override, headlights, nothing.... BUT the indicator lights do work while machine is running (must pull start) I replaced the battery and same problems.... I bought the machine wrecked and fixed everything else but am unable to figure out the electrical. ANy suggestions? and i missing a fuse or breaker or something of that sort?

Also i am afraid it may overheat because it is liquid cooled and i havnt noticed the fan running yet either....
Please help....

It might help to buy a shop manual from polaris, the schematic diagram would be included. you'll have to trace these systems back to a common point of failure. I'll put money on a loose or corroded connection someplace, most likely on the control module.

You will also have one or two circuit breakers, they are in little plastic pouches and supposed to be sealed, you can get replacements at anm auto store fairly cheap, you just have to get the right size and waterproof them.

Had the same problem with my wife's Scrambler last week. Turns out the neg. battery cable had come loose from the connector where it connects to the motor.

Don't let the hp numbers fool you. Its all in how you get it to the ground. Clutching clutching clutching!

Check your grounds and replace the bulbs that dont work. Then check the starter relay. If I was betting I would just change the relay anyway.

Hi did you find the problem yet? I have a 99 500 sportsman. Turn the key on nothing. you can pull start it and then the lights flicker. pulled the battery cleaned and charged. it has a bad miss in reverse unless the override is pushed. and kills alot. Let me know what you find. Thanks
