Default Help with clutching Guys

I need your help with clutching I have a V-Force and I have no idea about how the cluch works and how to make it faster I installed an EPI kit and I don't think it did that much. I had a Polaris brown spring in the pulley at the front of the machine and it seemed faster that way although it had more of a stall but I did'nt mind it. What do the different springs and weights do. I figured if anybody knew how to make an auto fast it would be you guys. Thanx

You need to find out where the peak power is in the rpm band and set it up to shift out there. A tach is a must for tuning clutches. Different surfaces will pull the rpm down more like sand. Get a tach put on it, find out where your peak hp is and go from there. Aaen performace has a book out on the auto clutches, it will help a great deal, pm me, I have one I will sell you if you are interested.

To be quite honest with you, If you have not made any motor mods, then your re-clutching will be in vain, that goes for any cvt equipped quad. You can raise the stall speed or take-off time to give you a little more oomp off the start and maybe some more acceleration, but you can not gain any in the top end without the mods. I would say the factory set-up is about spot-on with the upper rpm clutching. Simply, all you would have to do to make the change down low is to get a stronger spring in the front clutch. Now, if you do some motor mods, there is alot more that you can and should do.

And to add, you dont want to raise the full shift pressure on the spring, just the initial engagement pressure. If you raise the full shift pressure you will raise the rpms of the motor and lose power output. The motor has to stay on the peak power level at full throttle to be the most effective. As polarisfreak mentioned, Aaen's clutch handbook is the bible of clutching and can help tremendously.Bubba
