Have questions about oil change in trail boss 325
#1
Is it nessesary to drain the oil cooler? Should i put oil in the filter before insalling it? Finally can i use 20w-50 with out any type of flow or pump problems. Sorry for all the silly sounding questions but the universal manual they give you is vague. Also in the manual it says to use there oil 0w-30, well it is 90% here in nevada and that oil is like water. THANKS EVERYONE.

I usually pour some oil in the filter b4 installing it.. That way it isn't running very long without lubrication...
As for the cooler, try just pulling the drainplug and the filter and pull the engine over several times with the pullcord.
If you sink it, you may want to pull everything and clean it all out thoroughly..
I know what you mean with the light oils in hot temperatures... I would try a 40 weight oil, whether its Polaris 0W-40 Synthetic or Penzoil 10/40... Something thicker than 30 weight.

Don't worry about the oil cooler, and yes fill the filter before installing it like mudmachine said. Priming a filter is good to do on anything you change the oil in. As for the oil,in 90 degree weather the thicker the better. Even 20-50 is thin enough to start flowing fast after start up.
