Default Louisana Guard Dog Tie Down Device for ATVs

Anyone try one of these?

http://www.laguarddog.com/

I'm worried about busting out the back window of my pickup if I have to slam on the brakes!

I have one, my 97 ranger has a tool box in the back & I had to leave the back tires on the tailgate. I got the gaurddog and the locks & I love it. No more messing with straps and it will not move. Faster than straps and now my ramps can't be stolen as well as my ozark, both locked in no worries.

No way for the thing to come loose. I have an LA Guard Dog and a LA Trailer Dog. Three other guys on my deer lease have the LA Guard Dog. THese are the best thing since sliced bread. This is the best ATV accessory that I have purchased. Go to their web site and look at their video. No way at all for the ATV to come loose when it is tied down with the guard dog.

I should have phrased my first post differently. I'm affraid of busting out my back window the way I'm currently hauling my Scrambler now. I use a motocycle tire as a bumper. I drive the Scramy up to the tire until I squeeze it between my bumper and the bed. Engage the brake and leave it in gear. Then I use two tie straps on the back wheelie bar and close my tailgate. I works ok, but I know if I was to slam on the brakes, I'd be screwed.

The Guard Dog looks like a nice setup. The video really shows how stable that Sportsman was in the back of that full size pickup even while climbing some hills. I think I'm going to get one!

Get the Guard Dog, you won't be disappointed. This is one of those products, where all the hype you hear is true. Very nice piece of equipment. When I don't need both ATVs and the trailer, I just throw one of the ATVs in my truck, lock her down, and away I go. Check out the pics of mine loaded up. Click the link in my signature, then look in the "Loaded Up" folder.

That looks pretty slick but I wonder how it is pulling a trailer with the receiver being extended so much.

Looks like I posted right before you asked that. I have towed a trailer behind my truck with it. Before I got my two place trailer, I used to haul one ATV in the bed of the truck with the guard dog, and the other on a small 4x8 trailer, attached to the guard dog. Worked great. I had no issues at all, even with my small truck. If your truck sits up high, you will need a good sized drop hitch. My truck didn't need one that big. They say the guard dog should be used as a class 2 receiver (2000lb load). But the guy that makes the guard dog says he routinely pulls a 2500lb trailer behind it.
