Default girdle kit?

Is a girdle kit neccesary to ensure a reliable trail mod?

i know most people with race mods have them
but do you really need one with a trail set up

I don't think it's needed, but it wouldn't hurt either. Also HPD has a nifty, simple block re-inforcement plate for the 400. They are both great structural strengheners, but for a trail mod, probably overkill.

I busted my 400 Xplorer without a girdle kit. Aaen stage 4 big bore with trail porting. I made it to the third tank of gas when it broke the front ears off the cylinder. I would advise it.
