scrambler 400 or 500
#1
I can buy a 2001 500 for 3500-or could buy a 2001 400 for 3600-What should I do.
Both are 4x4-Both in good condition.I ride mostly trails and a little mud here and there.I do ride alot in the winter"if that makes a differnce".Not looking to race these machines, but being a x motocross racer getting a little radical sometimes is still in the blood.
Thanks for all replies

If resale value means anything to you, buy the 500. They hold there value alot better. That being said, the 500 is a better deal at $100 less if the machines are in samilar conditions. You should not be paying more for a 400 2 stroke than a 500 4 stroke. Now, if the fun factor is what you are after, than the 400 may be the way to go. I just love the sound and the quick revs of a 2 stroke. Neither machine will have an advantage over the other in the snow. If you are an ex motocross racer, I'll assume you used to race a 2 stroke. If so, you may feel more comforatble withe the power band of the 400. And if you used to work on your old bike, you should have no problems putting a piston in the 400 when the time comes.
