Talk Up Your Sportsman 500!!!

I am not going to say it is THE best, but it is definitly one of the best. I do not own one, but a had an intimate experience with one this weekend. My Trail Blazer was stuck in muddy water up to my seat. The machine stalled, as the water was over the exhaust. A guy on a Sportsman
drove right into this hole, hooked a strap up, and pulled my dead quad right out, no problem. Mind you he was in water almost to the seat also. It was very impressive.

After our club ride this weekend I was able to ride one of the members SP500. This quad is huge. It felt like a tank in that it could/would go anywhere! I had only a short test ride but its worth looking into. Also, can you say GROUND clearance!

There are 4 SP500's in our pack that have been excellent, trouble free machines. As Jaime states the creature comforts are great. The suspension is the best of any quad I have ever owned. The ground clearance, AWD, and good lighting are all things that I like over past units. I like the physical size of the machine. I find I am in an excellent upright riding position. I get back on my Honda 350 Four-Trax and it feels like a toy. My knees don't interfere with the steering on the SP. Love it.

If you like maintenance work buy a Sportsman. Just read the forums closely. Every Sportsman owner I know says they will not buy another one. Is it worth the great 4 wheel drive system, thats the only advantage I see. I am 49 years old and I have better things to do than constantly maintaining my machine. I like getting on it and having fun. I know some SP owners will get upset with this reply but I'm just saying what I am seeing and hearing. It will just come down to what you really feel is more important for you. There is one reply in the Polaris forum that there was ten machines that went riding five out of ten where Polaris's and all five Polaris's broke down on the same trip and none of the other ones. Kinda tells you something doesn't it. I'm really not trying to be ugly I'm just stating what I see and read. $6,000.00 is a lot of money, to spend on something so take your time and spend your money wisely. I'm sorry if I hurt anybody's feeling I didn't want to do that.

I am picking up my Sportsman 500 tomorrow! Cannot wait. No more Yellow ones up here! I wish i had decided to get it a couple weeks ago, there were a couple around. I wonder if i can order yellow plastic? Of course the wheels are black on the yellow one and not on the Red one. I have heard allot of raves about the 500 from owners around here i have met lately while out riding. no complaints, it is Polaris's biggest seller. It is awesome to be honest. I am trading in my Xplorer 250 4x4, only had it a few months decent machine but get left behind and i have to drive it hard just to keep up. Not anymore!

I beg to differ with your opinion, but I bought a SP500 and liked it so much I went back and got my wife one. So I pull 2 hours of maintenance every 6 months, at least I don't have to nurse my sore back for a day or so after a weekend ride like my non - irs friends do.
