Default How long to replace swingarm?

About how long will it take to replace the swingarm on my machine? I am just ok at turning a wrench, and I have the service manual.

that all depends on you and how you drive it i guess..im sure the way some ppl ride they brake them all the time but if you dont ride all that hard they should last you many years..just remember to grease everything and it will last awhile..

I think he means "how long will it take to replace it?", not how long until it needs to be replaced. I've never done it so I don't know.

I could give you an idea on a Sport/Scrambler, or a Predator, but not on an Explorer. Someone will chime in, be patient. You already did the right thing in getting the maint. manual.

do you have to pull the clutch off to get one of the swingarm bolts off on a sport?

I can answer that one, yes unless you have really skinny arms and skinny tools. But even then, I don't think the bolt would come out far enough.

scrambler420,
Yes on the clutch and the clutch cover inner and outer. It seems all straight forward but, we all know about Murphy’s Law. I would just like to here from someone that has done this job before for a confidence boost and maybe some time saving tricks. I read somewhere in one of the forum from this site or perhaps another that you need to use lock tite(red) on the swing arm bolts just wondering if it is necessary? Overall I am looking for a time frame so I can put it into my busy schedule and get some riding in the same day. And thanks for the funny, I like some humor added to peoples post.

Red loctite is a must for the swingarm. You also need to prep the surfaces correctly. At a minimum use a non-residual cleaner (brake-cleaner), but it's best to get the suggested loctite primer.

Thanks on that tip modquad. We dont want parts flying or me for that matter doing 60 . any time frame for this job say 3-4 hours. and does the lock tite need to cure more than 4 hrs?
