Default problems with the predator transmission?

I'm the "middle-aged" 20# overweight guy with 6k to burn target buyer referenced earlier!!! :0
If the factory suspension presets are stiff from the factory, than I'm in for an even cushier ride. Yesterday was my first ride on an official ORV trail. Lots of whoops. I have never gone so fast and taken less of a beating in my life!!! Suspension totally soaks up the trail. It was so cool to punch it out of a corner and just float over the whoops!!! Definitely feeling my age though, muscles are sore today!!!
As a novice bike tranny shifter, I have nothing to compare to; however, it shifts fine for me. The low end puch is lacking, but I figure I should've downshifted than anyway. I drive a Dodge diesel truck so the idea of keeping the bike in it's sweet spot isn't foreign to me. I am totally suprised that I don't miss the auto at all and how easy it has been to adjust to shifting while riding. Third gear pinned is an absolute rush. Makes the turbo boost on my truck feel lame. Couple times on the trail hit 4th on some straight aways. Wow! Scary fast, trees a blur...
And additionally, after 4 yrs on the lowly Trailboss, the looks of appreciation or jealousy are quite welcome!!!!

Default problems with the predator transmission?

I have heard of and have friends that did have shifting problems. My local dealer has called polaris and other performance shops to find a solution. Polaris has only heard of this problem on dunes, where we usually ride. The performance shops solution was that an oil passage was too small so they disassemble the motor and bore the whole larger $$$. They also suggested using a thinner oil. My friends all put more time on their trannies to break them in and run a slightly thinner oil, the shifting has no longer been a problem.

"The predators tranny has held up fine after many months of riding for me, and most all other long term predator owners I know."

What exactly is a long term Predator owner? Is that those who have had them for 6 months or 7 months....LOL

No comment on the quad my buddy's Predator runs fine, just thought it read funny!

I've run the PS4 oil from the start. The notchiness goes away fast, then you're left with a very smooth and accurate trans. Why bore holes and spend money when all you have to do is take your time and break it in right. Not ripping on you Bug50, just don't understand why people won't follow directions. DS, after you've owned a Predator, you'll be optomist too.

Default problems with the predator transmission?

Well, I'm sorry to report my tranny is messed up. Just got the quad last week and took it out Sunday. Rode it pretty easy for about 2 hours . On my way to park it on the trailer, I shifted into second and lost power. I looked down and saw the neutral light on. I thought it was weird because it was a pain in my a$$ to find neutral earlier. So I shift into first, go a bit and try again. Boom, neutral. I only have one gear! Oh well. I really don't think I broke it, as I was going very slow when it happened, and I took it easy on the tranny all day. I'm just scared the dealer is going to think I broke it because I'm a noob.

well here in the uk 80% of the preds have lost fourth gear its the neding of a selector fork, this has been on motox cross tracks not dunes, also the frame has craked on a few above the engine where it runs to the front, and the brakets which hold the plasticws on at the back, the other problem is that at least on pred at a days racing breaks the back plastics cause they are so brittle but i think the new model has differant grade of plastic

But if you are good at welding you could fix it.
