38mikuni on 400, which cable?
I think I fixed it. I took the top from a 42 Alky tmx with the threaded top that I had lying around. It doesnt fit in the stock manifold very good. Almost got a hurnia trying to get it in. Also, there is a small rubber snubber that made contact with the bottom of the stock carb. This could no longer be used so I had to remove the snubber and cut off some of the metal bracket that held it where it was. Has anyone else had to do this? I do have a reed cage spacer which I'm sure is part of the problem but probably not all. I am starting with a 310 main, whata ya think.

That rubber pcs is called a bog kit- by my dealer - and i had to trim some of the rubber off to get my TMX to fit properly. Also had to cut some of the thread off of the pc that goes into the cap. i was able to use the TMX cap but i have an HPD single cable- may be the difference. I'm running a 35 pilot , 390 main and almost 2 turns of the air screw out with great results and good plug color.

That sounds like it should work ok, as long as everything is sealed good and you are confident that the throttle cable will not bind up or anything, go for it. Kyxplorer, yes that is the difference between the HPD cable and factory. The ball on the end of the HPD cable is MUCH smaller than the one from the factory. I had to remove a few fittings and things for my throttle cable to fit properly for the TMX, so I am sure the same would be true for the TM.
