Default What to expect from the 600 V-Twin

My father-in-law just bought a 600 Twin. He rode it eactly 2 tenths of a mile and oil started pouring from where the dipstick tube enters the engine ( bad o-ring ). He called polaris and asked them to trade his bike for another new one. They said thats what warranties are for. However the dealer did trade his for one still in the crate. My question is are there any problems he can expect with this bike or any factory flaws people may have come across that are easily fixed. Thanks for any info

I'm surprised that Polaris would trade a machine with a V-Twin since it wouldn't be their product. Kawasaki is the only manufacturer of a V-Twin motor used in ATV's (AC also has the Prairie 650 motor).

If your referring to the parallel twin that Polaris uses, then yes warranties would cover minor issues like this. But to replace an entire machine for a stupid O-ring.........I have my doubts. As far as any issues, I don't know of any for the 600 that hasn't been corrected after the problems with the 700.

I know a couple people with the 600 and are very impressed with them.

My bad on the V-twin. Have fixed post. And the dealer did replace the machine his first one was green and the new one is black and silver. However the dealer said Polaris would not be happy with him for doing that.

I can see how he would have got upset about that but is probabaly a very rare occurence, probably didn't have the o'ring in correctly from the factory. I have heard nothing but good things about the 600. Like the guy said, most problems were worked out on the early 02 700s, I have had no problems with my 03 700.
