Default SP 500 HO Overheating-HELP

I have a 2001 Sportsman 500 HO and it keeps overheating. I have changed the Fan temp sensor and it still overheats. The temp light comes on and it boils over from the little resevior. The temp light comes on and I stop and about a minute later the fan will kick on. Every time the temp light comes on the fan is not on. Any suggestions?

Have you cleaned the fins of the radiator? Someone here was talking about soaking the radiator and had all kinds of stuff come out.....

It doesn't overheat all of the time. Just when I am in low gear for a while.

Remove the thermostat and put in hot water to check what temperate it starts the fan at. Check out what temp the workshop manual says it should be and go from there.

it sounds like something is wrong with your fan! if you run it for a while then leave the key on and the engine off the fan should still be running!!! you need to take it to the dealer or a dealer to get it serviced and looked at!!!
