Loose Steering Stem Rivets
#11
I believe mine was loose from the showroom floor also. I noticed when I picked it up it had more play than my trailblazer. At that time I just wanted to go ride it. I didn't look close at it until I really got checking things over after a somewhat brutal poker run last weekend. I think I'll just have the dealer fix it under warranty for now. If it happens once the warranty is up, then I'll go for the aftermarket stuff.

Just taking the rivets out and putting bolts in won't do squat. The plastic factory bushing is crap. A factory steering stem is $40. Hotseats chromoly one is $189. It's fairly easy to replace the bushing. I used a Dremmel tool to take out my rivets, greased the end of the steering stem, and tapped it ever so gently into the bushing with a small block of wood and hammer. It is well worth the $35.
