battery icon
I have an '03 SP700, while riding today my battery icon started flashing when reaching 45mph. I figured it had to do with the higher rpm, so I checked my voltage output and at a high rpm the machine is charging at 15.3 volts. Now I know on automotive 12 volt systems this reading is overcharging normally due to a bad voltage regulator. I'm seeking advice to whether anyone has had this problem and a remedy. Thanx

I'm having the same problem. I can have the throttle wide open and the battery indicator still flashes. According to the service manual, you should see 13V - 14.6V in the 3000-4000 RPM range at the battery terminals. If you're not familiar with it - with the key off shift the tranny into neutral. Hold the reverse override switch while you start the engine. This brings up a diagnostic mode on the speedo. You can use the reverse override switch to cycle thorugh the different diag modes. One of them should show you RPM. I'm going to dig in to it more tomorrow. I'll let you know what I find.
