what carb is better

I have a 99 sc 400 all mods except bigger carb. what is the diffrence bettwen 38 flat slide or pwk 39? I just need more. thanks

lipp,

Frankly the carbs are about the same. Both are larger flat slide carbs that will increase throttle response over the stock VM34SS. The 38 TMX has been out there a little longer than the 39 PWK. Also, due to its larger float bowl, the 39 PWK is recommended for the newer model concentric drive machines where as the 38 TMX can be fitted to all machines. I've heard that the 39 mm PWK is slightly easier to jet, but the 38mm TMX has been around so long that the jet settings are pretty well established.

Some aftermarket companies make a 42mm TMX (a bored out 38mm) which is said to provide serious top rpm gains.
