Xplorer 400 front wheel leaning in?
Need some expertise here guys. Recently bought a 2000 Xplorer 400 and notice the front tire appear to be slightly leaning in at the tops, meaning the distance between the tops of the two fronts is slightly less than the distance between the two bottoms. The steering handle bars have a bit of play in them which I'm assuming is probably ball joints to fix, but can anyone shead some light on whether this "leaning" issue is normal or a problem. If so, what is needed to correct. It seems to drive great and no problem climbing rocks etc. I appreciate the help.

What you have seen is called "positive camber", meaning that the front tires lean inward slightly to make them track straight. If the tires were leaning out, called negative camber, the ATV would wander and veer from side to side as if the driver had a few beers. Your car has the same situation and the tires have positive camber, or inward lean. The amount of camber is not adjustable in the MacPherson strut suspension of your Xplorer and unless there is damge to the upper strut mount or to the lower A arm, the "leaning" of the tires is fine. Dontworryboutit.

Guys, I appreciate the information. Here's a bit more info on my problem. I took the wheel off and I have so little room at the top of the tire, with front end weight or possibly going over rock ridges, the tire sometimes rubs on the end of the tie rod. It looks like it just started because the rubber bushing on the tie rod is worn off and the end where it rubs is quite polished. It alsmost looks like the whole tire assembly has to move down about an inch to get it away from the end of the rod. Any other thoughts???

Hotdog, maybe you are right. I bought the quad with the tires on but a commercial fisherman owned it and probably the tires he would use would need to be good in snow. What is the stock size tire for the 2000 xplorer 400.
The tires on it now are Mud Runners A125 - 8 -12. Any other thoughts?
