Default Clutch Weights For Sand

Ooops. I was wondering what weights some of you guys run for sand. I have had some troubles in the past with my quad not getting too good o take off when drag racing (just spinning and not moving). When it does finally hook up it runs like a beast. Does this have something to do with the weights? I was running the stock weights when this happend. I'm fixin to get the whole clutch kit from HPD and was wondering if I should get the weights that come with the kit or some other heavier or lighter ones. Thanks.

10-58 with the light blue primary. That's the HPD race mod with the ATV8 pipe. Now with the Comet primary and the Team roller....that will all probably change. Initial feedback from HPD is that the Comet primary isn't really all that great, but they really like the Team secondary. Supposedly Team might be working on a primary of their own.

Ken, I think Shawn is running a trail pipe on his wheeler. I have found that the brown primary with the stock weights work great on the trail pipe. The 10-58 weights with the red/yellow primary works good too and is real aggressive. If you dont have a different helix then a total kit might be a good idea. That will give you what you need and keep a couple of extra parts laying around. The polaris is heavy and a real good hooking tire is the only thing that will bring it out hard. The Skat Trak haulers are real good. Bubba

Yea, that's kinda why I put the disclaimer about the race pipe/port. More of a guideline. Can't wait for the hauler comparison.

Thanks guys. I have been running the stock clutch mostly but with a red/yellow primary. The secondary clutch buttons were shot and I was just gonna get the aggre. clutch kit to make everything work in harmony. So the 10-58 weights are the ones that come with the aggre. clutch kit right.? I already have the red/yellow so I'll probably go that route. I am also running 22x11x10 skat-trac haulers. They do hook up extremely well. Wheelies instantly, almost like it's on asphalt with track tires. Thanks for all the help. Shawn.

That spring with the stock weights wont load the motor well enough. All you need is some 10-58 weights with the primary clutch washer to match, and then get the 40-36 helix and a violet secondary spring in the 2-2 or 1-1 position. That will be the aggressive kit and should accelerate faster from A to B.
