Default Weird problem!!!???

I had a very bad vibration on mine, only at mid to high speed.Turns out i had 2 bent rims.Brought them to a tire shop and had the tire and rims balanced with some stick on weights.Problem solved.

Thats where my vibration is at, mid to high speeds. That is the hard part, finding out what it is.

Would the clutch cause vibrations at all speeds or just at the mid to high speeds? I would rather not screw around with the clutch if I didn't have to.

Block your bike up and try it with the tires on .Then try it again with the tires off. This will tell you if it is the tires.Very seldom will a clutch cause this kind of vibration.Although i may be wrong.

What about rear axel bearings? Would this cause it?

I guess it could but you can normally tell if the axel bearings are out because you will have some side to side or up and down movement.

Hmmmm. It ran fine before. Now it has this vibration. Before this last ride I replaced: The chain and sprockets, steering post bearing, left ball joint, headlights, belt, clutch cover seal, installed chain tensionor, and tightened the left hub but which was really loose. I couldn't torque the hub nut to 10-12 ftlbs because it engaged the armature plate and spun with the back wheels. It also would barely spin when in the air. So, I tightened it to about 7 or 8 ftlbs, where it would spin freely. Any one of these things sound like it could be the problem?

I took the clutch cover off. It has the usual rubbing marks that it has always had, just a few small new ones. I reved it in neutral to about 5000rpm and no vibration. The motor didn't seem to twist either, so the mounts look good. So now I move onto something else. If it were the rear axel bearings, wouldn't I feel that at all speeds? I am also thinking that it could have something to do with the chain tensionor, being that I didn't have this problem until after I installed it. Or maybe the front hub nut isn't tight enough. Maybe even one of the u-joints are bad? Any suggestions?
