Default Shosk help

The rear end of my Trailblazer is making a funny noise. I took the shock off to see if I could tell anything about iit and could not but I greased the bearings on it and put it back on and the noise quit for about a day then the noise came back and started doing the same thing. I need to know what the promblem is. Thanks.
