Polaris or Yamaha?

Some of us can only afford one quad and we like versitility. Me personally, I wanted something that I could jump, powerslide, do donuts one and just have fun on. I also wanted something that I could use to go through the rough and nastly stuff, like washouts, mud, rocks, deep snow and so on. That is why the scrambler was a no brainer for me. It does not accel in any one area in particular, but it does everything fairly well. It won't outrun a sprt quad and it wont out mud a utility. But, it will out mud a sport quad and out run a utility (for the most part)

NOW dont get me wrong, I like em all.
I just dont understand the marketing dinks who think they can smear a market and make one item do two different things well.
in nasty weather and deep snow, friend has a big polaris with a winch. for going fast, i have my quads. It's a preference, since both riding types are available here.
maybe it's because I drove a 1969 Land Cruiser every day for 20 years....my kidneys are permanently damaged I think, but that was an example of a no-compromise 4 wheel drive!

I thought it was a great idea. I would like to see other companies step up to the plate an make a "cross over" atv. They are doing it with automobiles, then why not quads??? The scrambler has been around since the mid 90's and has been a good seller for Polaris. As of now, its only "competition" is the wolverine. It would be nice to see some more "sporty" 4wd's

Thanx Fella's...
Well Im New & I think It's cool to have Sports/Utility quad.. Why not?
Best of both worlds. It really just makes sense. Don't get me wrong I would like to have a True sport, & true Utility, But Im not trying to invest that much. @ least not yet... Now depending how much my wife likes it, I'll get her one..
Well Thanx for all the Help Guys... It's been Very usefull..
So I'm Pretty sure Im going with the 2003 Polaris Scrambler 500 4X4.
1st it's only a G, or so more then the 02.
Also I like the Blue, the used red they had there looked all beat up..
Then I figured @ least I know what I'm getting, & any problems would be my own...
Hey guys, Now my boy is gonna get one also, If I get 2-Brand New Scramblers Do you think there gonna give me a good price? Can you work them? Or is there not that much of a mark up on them...

I think the 500 4+4 Scrammy is good but a little bit beefy, say you wanna cross a bridge most quads fit buy scrammy is pretty big and wide so you might have harder time squeezing trough places but it is a good quad still.

If your buying 2 at the same time, the dealer should definitely give you some kind of deal. There is all kinds of buddy packs and stuff, sometimes they will throw in a free trailor or some riding gear and accesories when buying 2 of something. Two of my friends bought kfx's together and got a very good deal on both of em. Not sure if every dealer does this, but ask around for sure! Good choice btw.

The scrambler really isn't THAT wide. Its only like 45 inches? I ride a lot of TIGHT trails and have no problem, plus I have reverse to get out of it. If you ride anything smaller to where a scrambler cant fit then maybe you should be on a dirtbike In fact, the wider width makes it more stable at high speed. Actually I want to widen mine more with 1.5" wheel spacers.
NYC, I think that if you can getthe 03 for a grand more then go for ir. Your dealer should give you a good deal if you buy 2, plus if it is a really good dealer then they may even give you a discount on parts. The 03's already have the updated clutch cover and some nice lookin plastic. The only problem with the blue is that I have heard that some people say that they scratches turn white. But, its gonna get scratched no matter what. One of the first things that you should get is a factory Polaris service manual. Start to learn about your new toy and if you are mechanically inclined at all, the service manual will let you perform all the neccessacery maintence and needed repairs. Good luck and congrats

polaris makes a spedo kit. my friend has one on his 400 and he can bury the spedo and then some the 400 are by far faster than the 500 . They are not that high mantenance ether. I would have rather got a 400.
