Well, I have said it before and will say it again, my Polaris is a 1998 model and I have NEVER had anything break (except for piston skirt, but that was K&N's fault). Have never been stranded on the trail, have never broke a chain, never stripped hubs, shocks are all good, never had problems with the starter or battery (when I maintained the battery correctly and before doing away with the starter and battery 2 months ago) and still on the factory brake pads with more miles to go. I have towed several Hondas, Yamahas, and especially Artic Cat's out of the woods though, so.... I am sticking with Polaris. Oh yeah, i did replace the chain and sprockets last year though, not that it needed it, I just wanted to try a different sized sprocket so I had to get a longer chain, so I just got all new. Sorry you had a bad experience RaptorRider660, I had a 95 Firebird Formula like that one time, POS!! But I don't hate Chevrolet because I drive one now with 135,00. miles and have only had thew water pump go bad in that time, so....

RaptorRider660R,
this list of parts replaced...
axle
both rear hubs stripped 1 twice.
rear shock
both front struts
1 front strut housing
2 chains broken!
starter
Battery
front and rear brakes 3 times
screams misuse of a quad. (breaking the front strut housing and chains is a prime example)
did you ride it with the brake on? you do realize its called the TRAILboss right?
Mine has not had a single problem because I know what they designed it for. its a lightduty/trail machine. It's not a MX/jumping quad.
Mine is over a year old and never once been in the shop.

You are so correct is was misuse. I purposely abused the Polaris while taking perfect care of my recon and Raptor. You caught me I beat it to death cause I hate Polaris! Just incase you cannot tell that was sarcasm.
I do take excellent care of my Raptor but the recon has had little more than an oil change the whole time I have owned it. That thing will last 10 times as long as any trailboss and take twice the beating without breaking.
I'm sorry I missed the warning label on the Polaris that said CANNOT BE RIDDEN HARD! Do all Polaris' have this warning label?

Yadda, yadda, yadda. Go back to the house of blues if you don't like it here. They all have burps, I've spent hours trying to get a Banshee of a buds started. Watched a Raptor cough carbs. Had a Honda exhaust simply fall off. Maintain 'em, and fix 'em if they lunch.

Any quad not taken care of will have it's share of problems. I had mine with my 95 Scrambler, but what should I have expected? I bought it used, it was sitting outside a dealer for over a year. My mistake and lack of information on quads put it back in the shop a week after I bought it, blown motor. It was fixed right away from the dealer, new top end, and then this and that, sprockets, chains, normal wear and tear stuff, but costly none the least! But it's what I would expect from a quad that's this old.

The local polaris dealership let us borrow a few new quads to do some testing.....ah never mind it was abuse of loading and unloading them off the trailer. Buy what you want, ride what you want.
