I wonder that myself. Will I still get a power gain if I just remove the airbox without rejetting? If so will it hurt the engine and about how much of a power gain would I get out of my z?

The 2-strokes are sensitive to changes. If you ride a lot of water, Rick Ritter has an airbox mod kit, or you can run a slip on K&N with a water resistant Outerware. Always check your jetting though. HPD, Hot Seat, RCR (Rick Ritter), and Aaen are all great shops to work with.
