Default predator questions

im looking into buying a polaris predator to race mx with... how are they holding up.. has anyone had any problems with them, if so what? ive seen a couple predators racing at local tracks and they look real got out there.. i was also considering buying a z400 to race because of its lighter weight. can you feel the predators heavier weight went jumping big (like clearing a 40 foot table top) and can you jump it without it getting funny? building the z400 would take much money and time i dont really feel like going through all that again just want something that is basiclly race ready.. ive heard of tranny problems with the predators but would like to get ur alls honest opinion on them.. ive been racing mx for 3 years and would like to move on from my 400ex

well i would DEFINATELY go with the predator. i looked at ALL sport quads and read as much as i could about all of them for about a year and then i finally set on the predator. its the best thing u can get stock. for the money. it beats everything out there stock to stock in a drag except for a DS but in woods and MX it cannot be topped by ANYTHING now im not bashing on anything because i have an unbiased opinion on all quads. they have got ALOT of upgrades out right now with tons more to come no doubt. its steering and suspension are better than everything out today.(the only thing better is a yzf 450 and it only has better suspension but who wants to pay 7000 for a quad) anyways its steering and power cannot be beaten. when WET its lighter than a raptor and DS and about the same to a Z. its all around better. aiight den hope i helped -PEACE-

I have had my Pred for 8 months and have had my share of problems, brake lines leaking, trans rebuilt, tie rod ends and ball joints. But I would'nt trade it for 10 Z400s. I think I finally got all the bugs worked out of it. I do alot of jummping and can tell you a 40ft table top will not challenge this bike at all. If you get a Pred before you ever go riding put a barrnet clutch in, all the notchy shifing fades away. I would say that is the best investment for this bike. They handle great, jump great and have lots of power after a few slite adjustments. Personally the Pred is the bike to have, but thats my opinion. Good luck with whatever you get.

I recommend you get a Predator over the z400. I have both, there is not much or a comparison in terms of handling or power. The Predator smokes it. Some simple mods, pipe, jetting, gearing, filter and you'd be very pleased for minimal $'s. The Pred handles great in the air, it's quite nimble, and I my opinion, more predicatable than my Z400.

I've spent some time on one and for the money it cant be beat. A few days dialing the suspension in let it breath, get it to 50 inches, vola, lethal budget racer. I like them alot.

If you do decided on the Predator for mx racing, I would highly recommend getting the fox rezzies installed on the front shocks right away. They make a heck of a difference. I love em, they really help soak up the big jumps and whoops, without having to over stiffen the front suspension.
