I was out riding yesterday with my two young ones. I own a Scrambler 400 and have a 10 year old who rides a TRX 90, and a 6 year old who rides a LT80 along with a PW 50. Anyway we were out riding and I am always harpping on them to be safe when out riding. At one point, and it seems like it never fails, one will follow to close to the other then when one stops the other bumps into from behind. This happened again yesterday they never hurt anything it is just the fact that they need to lern. But since manufactures are so woried about safety why dont they put break lights and head lingts on the small machines? I mean dosnt that make sence?

From the "spec" sheet that I saw for the new Polaris mini quads they have a brake light, but no headlights. I guess, they think that headlights would encourage night riding, but me, it would be a great safty feature. Sometimes You can not get back before dark for some unforseen reasons and a headlight would be beneficial. They will also be useful when riding it dusty conditions and on overcast days.

I agree, the trails that I ride in Northern Wisconsin get very dusty. I usually keep my headlight on at all times for safty anyway. I think all quads should have a headlight and tail/brake light standard off the showroom floor.

I think all atv manufacturers should put brake lights on their quads.

I believe in Canada it is mandatory to have them.

I agree on the light issue, front and rear. Visability is increased tremendously.

Snowshark, they are not mandatory here in Ontario that I know of. The non Polaris machines that I ride with do not have a brake light. Admittedly they are older machines though so who knows.

I was looking at the new 50 and 90cc quads at the dealer the other day. He got them in early. Anyway, the 50 and one of the 90s are modeled after the Scramcler 400, and have a headlight in the front cowling. The 90cc Sportsman has three just like it's much bigger brother.

I just went by the local dealer today and saw the pictures of the two. I guess they are thinking safety in that the flyer I saw said you get a Dot approved helmet, kill swich teather cord, rear break light however the front lights are only stickers and are not real lights. They also had a electric start with recoil backup. Looked pretty cool. When I asked about the possibility of a new sport quad the dealer said he had no idea only that they were working on something. He also comented on the DS 650 saying that they were already having problems with them??? Not sure wha the meant by that only that I know Ski-Doo (Bombaeare??) is Polaris's mortal enemy and they would love to see the DS not do well.

Thanks for the correction. I thought there was a post tail lights being mandatory in Canada.

They should be mandatory on all quads!
