Default help high speed shimmy

help please, i got a used sportsman500. runs good and seems in good overall condition, but at 30mph and above it gets this shimmy or shake in the handlebars . so far i've checked tire pressure and looked for a bent rim. after adjusting tire pressure it did seem to help it some but its still their. it shakes most when running on pavement.

It could be a warped or damaged brake disc. The easiest way to find out what it is would be to get the front end off the ground, turn the tires and see if you feel any roughness in the turning. If not, could just be a bad spot on one of the tires??

Might want to check the toe also.....although I'd think that would show up in tire wear rather than a shimmy.

It could also be a very out of balance tire, or steering components having excessive slop in them.

If the atv had been setting for a long time and has slime in the tires it can solidify and cause all kind of havoc. I had some go bad in a tire and caused a terrible vibration. Just something you might check.

I too have a shimmy in my scrammy above 30mph. I just cannot figure it out. I did't have it before my last ride but I had it on this one. I thought that it may have something to do with the chain tensionor that I installed. But, come to think of it, before my last ride I put SLIME in all the tires. Then it was about a month and a half later before my next ride(I know, tooo long). Pennyless, you got me thinking now that the slime is causeing my shimmy. I thought that is is suppose to stay a liquid?

A lot of things in life aren't what they are supposed to be. As you grow older you will find this out. I sound like an old man giving advise. Probably because I am an old man. Older anyhow 40 ish. I don't like slime of any sort. When I get a puncture wound on a tire nothing works better than a little silicone and a screw as far as i'm concerned. Actually where I ride I get very few flats. Just lucky I guess.

Well, it didn't do this after my last ride before this one. It ran great with no vibration. I also put Slime in the tires at that time. But, I wasnt able to ride again until 2 weeks ago. So, I don't think its the axel cuz I would have felt it then. I am leaning towards the Slime solidifying.
