Default Oil Injection ???

I have an old 1986 250r/es trail boss. The quad has been sitting for many years outdoors and not maintained. I am trying to get it back on the road again. Alot of parts are frozen from rust and sitting, It took a while to free up the electric start, and am still soaking the clucth to get that to free up. It did start on a fuel oil mixture just to see if it would run. I was advised to bypass the oil injection just in case it is bad. I would rather leave it hooked up for convience, but how can i test to see if it is pumping oil. I cant see while it is running, and it would be to late to start it and hope it is working. Any tips on how to see if it is working, I am not to good with carbs, so I am trying to avoid rejetting and using an oil/gas mix. Any ideas,
Thanks
