shifter question

Default shifter question

i've been looking at some pice of scrambler and noticed that a lot of the fixed up ones have no shifter shaft running through the plastic. how do u shift and what did they do?

Default shifter question

I just used a "blade" of aluminum. Removed the ball-stud, and drill it for the shaft coming out of the trans, and the hole the stud was in. I think it's only around 5" or so long. Depends on what kind of pipe you have. The HPD ATV8 (newer race style) is a very small diameter back there, unlike the other trail race pipes. You can zig and zag a bracket though.

i understand does it remove any weight or just for looks?

Kinda both actually. People really take a second look when you just reach down behind your leg to shift. All that shifter linkage is steel.

You have to ultimately decide what you want. By removing the oil injection,battery,floorboards,and the little nit-picking things you can shed a considerable amount of weight which makes for a faster better handling quad.

iam already heading that way bubba i have removed my injection, floorboards, battery, starter, skidplates, sprocket guard, headlights, some wiring, thinking about cooling fan any ideas on this?

Default shifter question

I've run w/o the cooling fan on mine for a couple of years. You have to run Redline's Water Wetter though....or should I say, I strongly suggest that. Eric and Dennis from Da AZ Boyz first suggested this, and it works. I'm not sure how it would go with the stock head, I know with the HPD billet head it works great.
