Bad Predator Engine Problem
#1
Hey Guys,
Took my Predator on a 4wheeling trip and began riding in Oak Ridge, TN at the Windrock ATV park. Rode for about 10-15 minutes and turned the motor off with the key to talk to a friend. Went to start it again and the starter wouldn't turn the engine over. It seemed like the battery was low and was just cutting out. So I tried to roll it down a hill and drop the clutch to start it to no avail. I then tried jumpstarting and had no luck.
I pulled the two side covers and everything seemed to be in fine shape. On the driver's side of the bike, there is a nut(underneath the plastic allen head plug)you can turn which will turn the engine over. I couldn't move the engine counter clockwise at all but was able to rotate almost a complete revolution clockwise and then you could feel something make contact and prevent the engine from turning any further. Then you could go the opposite direction until it hit again. So the only thing I can do is turn the motor about 9/10's of a rotation in one way and then it will hit and not go any further. You can then turn it the opposite direction until it hits again in the same spot...any ideas? I'm really bummed.

I should add that when you rotate by hand you can feel the engine building compression which I think rules out a broken valve.

What really baffles me is it was running great, then I turned it off with the key and when I tried to restart it no go! I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I hope it isn't too serious, I'm afraid to find out.

Possibly something in the starter drive or such binding up. Or if it's building compression maybe there is coolant or gas on top of the piston causing the motor to try and hydraulic and not turn over. Take the plug out and try to turn it over. Bubba

Hey Guys,
Yes, I tried pulling the plug and the exact same thing happened. The starter has nothing to do with it....when I removed the side covers i took the gears out and was trying to turn the motor by hand.....there is a very distinct point where the motor simply won't go any further, you can literally feel something make contact when you try to turn it. Very frustrating. I need to take it in for warranty and dread it because i have an HMF pipe and Airforce kit.
