Default got a 39 pwk carb ??

I just got a oil injection elim kit, V-force reeds, 39 pwk carb, aluminum air box and filter, and single throttle cable from hpd. I put them all on yesterday but my idle is way to high I tried turning the idle screw out but it only brought the idle down slightly still way to high. and when I shut it off it takes a few seconds to die like it is winding down. any suggestions? 2002 400 4x4 hsp speed kit + billet premium head. any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Look inside the carb the slide needs to be almost all the way down for it to idle properly. The cable at the top of the carb needs to be adjusted, then you can fine tune it at the handle bars.Another thing to check is to make sure at full throttle that the slide is opening all the way.

Default got a 39 pwk carb ??

the slide is almost all the way closed at idle then at full throttle it is all open. I turned the adjustment on the cable and on the top of the carb and couldn't get any free play in the thumb throttle or the idle to change. one time before when i had the stock carb on it I accidentally had the over flow tube up instead of pointing down and it acted exactly the same. but I have fiddled with everything and cant finger it out please help

I would go back and make sure the cable is properly seated in the slide. Loosen everthing up to make sure it's a long enough cable. Also maybe double check your routing....make sure you're not pinching the cable somewhere. With the quad idling, you should be able to turn the bars side lock to lock and the rpm's shouldn't change, if they do, it's too tight. Double check your reed installation. You did use new gaskets, right? Double check the torque's on the fasteners.

I will go and check to make sure the cable is in right but from as soon as you start it the idle is high. I used the new gaskets just put all that stuff in and cant get it to idle less than about 1/3 or 1/4 throttle thanks for help

the cable is not being pinched, reed bolts are tight, and the idle screw doesn't seem to effect the idle

I got the idle down close to right but the cable seems to be to short by about 1/4 of an inch or so. IS THAT POSSIBLE?? with the thumb throttle end unhooked the slide goes all the way closed but when I hook it up the slide is about !/8 " from closing with every adjustment as small as possible I cant figure it out. The idle adjustment screwis all the way out. usually you can turn the screw out far enough to kill the engine but I cant even get it out far enough to make a good low idle any one have any ideas ??
IS IT POSSIBLE THE CABLE IS TO SHORT I WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE LONG ENOUGH FOR PLAY EITHER WAY PLEASE RESPOND

what is the head you're running?
if you run the 12.1 head you need at least 92 octane gas,a lack of octane
in the gas will act like that,is the engine doing the same thing when
riding?
also ckeck for a air leak in the boot carb.

I run premium gas, no air leaks I think the cable is to short. is it possible that hpd sent me one that was to short or a factory defect ?
