Check the wiring first. Polarises have circuit breakers not fuses. If all the wiring is plugged in tightly you have lost a wheel sensor (Hall effect). These are notorious for going bad. Easy to change all that is required is a 3/8 inch socket and a pair of diagonal cutters and 4 wire ties. The sensor is located behind the right front wheel on the 500s and I am sure it is probably located there on the 700. When replacing do not forget to put the small metal cap back on the new one. A easy check is to take the new one and without routing the wires just plug it into your speedometer and spin the wheel the speedo should jump to like 7 MPH or so.

The speedo on my 02 700 just took a $hit too and it's the second one, with about 200 miles on it. That being said, Dustin is probably on the right track with the wheel sensor. I havn't got time to look at it yet but the service manual says that the sensor is located on the right front wheel ( as your sitting on the machine). I believe it also said that it was attached to the brake caliper.
