I haven't had a problem yet. The 4x4 will pull you through almost anything. A 3" taller rear tire would raise it 1.5" But them you would have to go with a 4" taller front tire to keep the 1" difference between the front and rear tires for the 4wd to work correctly

No, the front end of a scrambler is not chain driven, it's is axel driven. As I have a scrambler 500, let me tell you it is great in mud and not to bulky in mud as a Sportsman 500. Also the plus of getting a rear axcel driven bike is the rear axcel doubles as a winch. I can give you more deatails on the winch idea if you need.
